SOCIAL AT THE THORNHILL CLUB

The Thornhill Club has a dynamic social scene with opportunities for you to hang out with a few friends on our patio or making new ones at one of our many events. We have an extensive social calendar to look forward to throughout the year, including special events for every holiday occasion.

Our events include tapping our very own Maple Trees to make Canada’s goldsocial-2en syrup on Family Day, Easter in April, Mother’s Day in May and Father’s Day in June. Our marquee social events come in July as we welcome the warm weather with the much-anticipated Annual Taste of Summer.  Our members are invited to celebrate the Autumn harvest with our Food, Wine & Sax affair. This is a great opportunity for members to meet, mingle and share in the house-made specialties from our Executive Chef, Stephan Na.

The Thornhill Club is the perfect place to enjoy the company of your fellow members. Come and see why our members consider The Thornhill Club as their home away from home!

BRIDGE

The Duplicate Bridge section at The Thornhill Club has over 100 members.  We play year-round on Monday afternoons from 1 to 4 pm and on Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 pm.   From May 15 to October 1 our Thursday games are from 1:30 to 4:30 pm so that golf and bridge are possible on the same day.

Our ACBL qualified director and teacher Ina Demme runs an excellent and friendly game.  If you are or become an ACBL member, all of your Thornhill Master Points will be accumulated by the ACBL.

In addition to the regular Monday and Thursday sessions, we play about six extra Wednesday sessions in various formats, including Individual Round Robin, In-House Swiss Teams, Inter-Club, and an Invitational Swiss Team event.  Participation in all sessions is, of course, voluntary.

As well as our regular Monday and Thursday games, we offer a two-hour session on Wednesday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon designed to introduce social bridge players to duplicate bridge and to enhance the bridge skills of relatively new duplicate players.  Boards and bidding boxes are used, and more experienced players offer help with both bidding and play of the hand.  This excellent program has resulted in several players joining the regular Monday and Thursday sessions.

Every year, starting in October, the section offers a series of lessons given by prominent bridge teachers at a very reasonable price.

The Thornhill Bridge Duplicate Bridge Section is congenial and welcoming.   If you need a bridge partner, we can help you find one.
