A Legacy of Elegance and Achievement at The Thornhill Club

Established in 1922 as a golf club, The Thornhill Club has evolved into a distinguished all-season destination with a rich history and a commitment to excellence. The expansion into year-round activities began in 1963 with the addition of a curling rink, transforming our club into a versatile haven for members. Today, our facilities boast an eighteen-hole championship golf course, a nine-hole executive golf course, a curling rink, a full fitness facility, outdoor tennis courts, golf practice areas, and a clubhouse.

Renowned golf course architect Stanley Thompson, a Canadian legend, designed our iconic eighteen-hole golf course. The layout, retaining classic Thompson design features, offers strategic bunkering, the illusion of distance, dramatic variations in hole length and fairway width, intricate mounding, subtly breaking greens, and elevated tees. The clubhouse, surrounded by well-landscaped gardens and walkways, provides a scenic vista overlooking the golf course, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance.

BYRON NELSON
A Golfing Legend's Triumph at Thornhill.

The Thornhill Club has etched its name in golf history, being the site of one of Byron Nelson's most remarkable achievements. In August 1945, Nelson won his tenth consecutive PGA Tour tournament with a score of 19-under par. Despite fatigue during the Canadian Open at Thornhill, Nelson's perseverance on the challenging course, especially on the iconic 2nd hole, earned him a fantastic bogey, securing his 11th straight victory—a record unmatched to this day.

STANLEY THOMPSON
Architectural Brilliance Across Canada.

Stanley Thompson's influence on Canadian golf courses is unparalleled, and The Thornhill Club stands as a testament to his brilliance. With over 100 courses across Canada, the U.S., South America, and the Caribbean, Thompson's designs, including Thornhill, remain benchmarks of golfing excellence. His commitment to blending natural features with artificial elements is evident in the strategic bunkers, subtly breaking greens, and elevated tees that define our course.

As we continue to uphold Thompson's legacy, The Thornhill Club remains not only a picturesque golf course but also a cherished memorial to a visionary architect. Join us on this journey through time, where history and excellence converge to create an unparalleled golfing experience.
