Ron Morrison Rock Handle Dedication Ceremony: A Lasting Legacy on the Ice

On Tuesday, October 15th, just before the Men’s Tuesday night draw, The Thornhill Club held a special ceremony in honor of long-time member and beloved curler, Ron Morrison. The event, attended by Ron’s family and many from our curling community, was a touching tribute to his contributions to the sport and to our club.

As part of the ceremony, a rock handle engraved with Ron’s name was unveiled, symbolizing his lasting presence on the ice. His former teammates—Howard Arcand, Mike Matthews, Kim Wilson, and Gary Battaglia—came together for the ceremonial first throw, bringing a sense of camaraderie and remembrance to the evening.

Ron will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, both on and off the ice. His spirit, sportsmanship, and dedication to curling will live on through the "Ron Morrison" rock, which will be used throughout the season. Each time it is thrown, it will serve as a reminder of his legacy and the impact he had on our curling family.
